As we focus this Christmas season, an important concern we need to answer is how we should pray or what we should pray for. To begin, many people are now occupied with receiving gifts. Some have even posted a ‘wish list’ in their Facebook accounts, most probably to give their contacts an idea of what they want to have this Christmas. But maybe, when the Christmas event is over and the ‘wish list’ was not fulfilled, these individuals would feel bad. Perhaps, when we look at what these people are saying or doing, we think we should also pray for the gifts that we hope or like to receive. Other individuals, however, are of noble heart. For these people, a good prayer item is about gospel opportunities and the like on this season. I would agree with this, for the Christmas season is a very good opportunity to share the gospel. For some, they would probably be praying for provision, safety, and blessing among other concerns that might arise along the way.  Now, aside from the concerns I just mentioned, can we say that this is all that we should be praying for this season?

The psalmist calls out,

"Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones; Praise is becoming to the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy." – Ps. 33:1-3, New American Standard Updated (NASU)
